Forgive people for what they’ve done to you for the sake of Allah. Forgive them not because they deserve it; do it so that Allah forgives you. The best thing about forgiveness is that it detaches negative energy and it takes away their power over you. The sooner we forgive, the sooner we move on to a better more positive life.

Holy Qur’an, an-Nur 22: Rather, let them pardon and forbear. Do you not wish that Allah should forgive you? Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate.
