Sometimes, Rasūlullāh ﷺ would keep things secret until things were completed and perfected. How much pre-caution do we take in our lives to protect ourselves from spiritual and physical illnesses? Lots of us complain of things spiralling out of control in our lives, but is that due to our laxity?
When we find out the news that we are carrying a child in our womb do we ask Allāh to protect our gift or do we broadcast it on our What’s app list? You finally got your degree. Do you ask Allāh to increase you in knowledge or do you seek an increase of likes on social media before that? You got married. Do you sit together and make du'a for Barakah like we’ve been told or do you sit and post your happiest moments before that? You looked in the mirror and you looked beautiful. Do you take a selfie first or do you read the Prophetic du'a? You got a job, did you thank Allāh for the rizq or are you putting out your celebration photos at the desert shop before that? You bought some expensive clothing, some elegant hijabs and jewellery to match - Do you ask Allah for its good and seek protection from its evil or do you seek the attention of people on SnapChat? Your new car or your holiday abroad? Do you seek Allāh’s protection during travelling or do you seek 20 comments on your post? Your body is getting ripped in the gym. Did you thank Allāh for strength before replying to the compliments of those admiring you? You prayed, fasted, cried, and gave charity, and it’s on Twitter before you asked Allāh to accept? We must remain careful of how we are protecting ourselves. Not everyone has what we do and not everyone wants to see you happy. We must be people who pray, remain grateful and seek protection daily and before sleep. Not every gift has to be shown to the world.
